The Sock Monster lives at the Launderette too...

Last week, Dee caught up with Ellen from At The Well to chat about how an act of kindness for two families at Lansdowne Court developed into a huge city-wide scheme to help people access laundry services during lockdown.

You'll have to wait for the final work to launch to hear the full story but we were intrigued to learn that, as well as being the most common item, socks are some of the most challenging and elusive things serviced at the launderette. She described having to be extra vigilant when spinning out the drum of their machines, the mysterious sock eating monster who seems to live in every place there's a washer or drier, and hanging and labelling individual socks that were bundled up too tight to dry with the rest of the load.

We're really enjoying editing our stories into short films for the initial digital aspect of this project. Tonight when it gets dark we're working on the final element - exploring projections and mapping video to fabrics and significant clothing items - then uploading it all to our online site ready for audiences to explore.
